New Agricultural Center

Thousands of people rely on LBCC to train future workers in the industries that matter most to Oregon and especially the Willamette Valley. Here in the heart of the Valley, that means meeting the area’s agriculture needs.  Right now LBCC is forced to turn students away from its successful Agriculture Programs due to limited space. A new agriculture center will not only allow programs to expand, but also meet the demands of local employers in critical need of technical farm workers.

Measure will fund the construction of a new agricultural center including:

  • Classrooms/facilities for training in agriculture, crop, and animal sciences.
  • Provide a modern arena for equine and livestock events for our students and our community.
  • Include space for a multispecies program with state-of-the-art teaching and safety equipment.
  • Create a central location for our agricultural classes and program which will prepare students to enter the workplace or university for a bachelor's degree.
  • Generate space for community events and classes for our community partners like 4H, FFA, and equine groups.

Why Do We Need A New Ag Center?

We need to meet an urgent need for skilled, trained workers in our agriculture industries!

LBCC offers top-notch instruction in Agriculture and Animal Science and has deep partnerships with local businesses and farms that produce critical products for Oregon and the nation. But LBCC does not have a central place for students to train, and therefore no way to grow the program and adapt it to changing needs of area farmers. Our area’s farms need technically trained workers NOW.

An LBCC Agriculture Center means creating DIRECT pathways to JOBS in our vital industry

By building an Agriculture Center, LBCC can expand training in programs like Animal Science, Crop and Soil science, Agricultural Science, and CTE programs that address agricultural machinery to meet specific employer demand.  This is our opportunity to create a central powerhouse in Linn and Benton County for training future agriculture workers with the best instruction and latest equipment. It is also our chance to open a new pipeline to a 4-year degree at Oregon State University for students going on to study in industries like veterinary medicine.

An LBCC Agriculture Center will meet the unique needs of RURAL families here in the valley

This investment will meet the unique needs of rural families in Oregon with the kind of instruction that will keep family farms and growing companies flourishing and contributing to our local economy. Plus it will allow youth in 4-H, FFA and OHSET programs to have a central location for summer camps, fairs and competitions – something our community currently lacks.
